Historic day for Gnats
THE Beccles and District Table Tennis League held its annual presentation evening at Hales Garden House last week. The event was attended by 37 people, including the league's sponsor Alan Cook of Alan Cook Accommodations and his wife Margaret.

The event was attended by 37 people, including the league's sponsor Alan Cook of Alan Cook Accommodations and his wife Margaret.
Chairman Barry Fortune welcomed the members and guests and then invited Mr Cook to present the 11 trophies.
The main trophy of the evening was the league championship, which was won by Hales Gnats. This was the first time they had won the league in their 38-year history.

James Skilleter and Oly Howes were the biggest winners of the evening, each winning or having a share in four trophies. Luke Glaysher and Gordon Howes were involved in three wins each.
Members and guests then enjoyed a buffet.

The new season begins in October and weekly practice sessions will be held every Wednesday evening at Hales Village Hall throughout August and September.
