Beccles B entertained Felthorpe A in the reverse of the previous week's fixture aware that a win would see them leapfrog the visitors in Norfolk League Division Seven.

Beccles had an excellent 89-run victory for maximum points despite a huge ninth-wicket stand by Felthorpe.

Having been asked to bat Beccles were soon on the back foot, losing their first wicket in the second over. Patrick and Wright added 34 before Wright's dismissal in the 12th over.

The fall of the second wicket brought Hoare to the crease who played with trademark aggression to add 108 with Patrick (46) who was dismissed just short of a deserved half-century.

Hoare continued to play aggressively before being dismissed for an excellent 82.

A series of lusty blows took Hadingham (56) to an excellent half-century ably supported by L Smith (24) in adding 87 for the fifth wicket. Some big shots from Cockings (14 not out) added quick runs in the final overs as Beccles reached an imposing 264 for seven.

M Smith and Cockings took the new ball for Beccles and soon found a breakthrough with opener Sutton dismissed in the third over.

Cockings then bowled the dangerous Norwell triggering a top order collapse in which Smith (4-68) and Cockings (4-24) claimed four wickets each to leave Felthorpe reeling at 65 for eight.

The arrival of Dismore and Doyle at the crease signalled the start of a frustrating period in which Beccles were unable to wrap up the Felthorpe innings.

The pair added 104 for the ninth wicket allowing Dismore to complete an excellent century before being dismissed by Vickers for 117.

Vickers (5-2) then claimed the final wicket in the 42nd over as Felthorpe were finally dismissed for 175 .

Beccles B travel to Old Catton tomorrow with hopes of continuing to push for a promotion place.
