Thursday saw Beccles Kuk Sool Won Korean martial arts club presented its award for dedication and commitment for the first time – to Holly Goldspink.

The award was donated by the family of John Cracknell and presented in his name by his mother, son and daughter.

John, a member of the club for many years and leading it as the principal instructor from 1990 to 1994, sadly died this year.

Head instructor Philip Hinchliffe said John’s mother had contacted him and wanted to present and annual award in her son’s memory.

“I knew John and thought this was a fitting tribute and something for the children to aim for,” she said. “I hope to be presenting this award annually, to our motivated young people for many years to come.”

Holly joined the Little Ninjas at four years old, moved up to juniors and will begin training for her black belt next year at just seven.

She almost never misses a class and has competed at national level as well as demonstrated her skills in public shows many times. She is a true example of dedication and a positive attitude to learning, as well as embracing new challenges.
