In the past few weeks Andy Graver, from Beccles, has had a string of successes in national and international target pistol shooting competitions.

In mid-September, he became British Men's Sport Pistol Champion at the British Pistol Championships at Bisley with a winning score of 575 out of 600.

On the end of September he and son Eddie went to the Commonwealth Shooting Federation European Division Championships on the Isle of Man to shoot for England.

Andy came second, winning a silver medal in free pistol and a team gold with fellow England team-mate, Steve Cooke who won individual bronze.

The free pistol match was shot on the side of Snaefell in difficult weather conditions, namely very cold and breezy.

Trying to hit a 10 just 5cm across, one handed, at 50 metres in those conditions makes winning a gold and silver medal all the more satisfying he says.

Eddie shot remarkably well considering he was competing against some of the best senior European commonwealth shooters.

Last weekend, Andy shot in the final stage of the National Smallbore Rifle Association/Eley yearly competition. The first two rounds are shot locally and the top eight in air pistol and the top three in free pistol then shoot in a final at Bisley in which Andy came second in both finals.
