On Easter Monday, Sprowston Athletic were the visitors to Beccles Town FC, where in a very physical game the hosts ran out 4-1 winners.

But this was at a cost as with the Mummery Cup final only a matter of weeks away,

both Wilson and top scorer Remblance picked up injuries.

On Saturday, Beccles will be hoping to complete the double over Anglian Combination championship favourites Sheringham when the host them at College Meadow, ko 2.30pm.

Manager Broxup changed formation to 4-4-2 for the Sprowston game as Day, Wigg and Barham were unavailable

Cable kept his place in goal with the back four of Greengrass, Sayer, Mayhew and Mcmorran. Waterman and Wilson partnered each other in midfield with Holmes and Woods operating on the flanks. Hurren and Remblance continued in a two-man attack.

Beccles attacked the visitors from the offset and made their intentions clear as Remblance fired a warning shot just over.

On 10 minutes Beccles made a breakthrough. Hurren beat the offside trap and got round his marker before pulling his cross back for the in-rushing Remblance to head into the top corner.

One soon became two as Remblance found space on the left to return the favour and cross for his strike partner Hurren to fire first time, low past the keeper for 2-0.

Beccles were dealt a blow as they lost influential midfielder Wilson through injury. Myhill slotted into the back four as Mayhew pushed into the midfield role.

Just before half-time, the visitors got back into the game. A mistake at the back allowed the lively striker to nip in and finish well past Cable.

Beccles started the second half in the same way as the first, creating many half-chances, forcing corners and free-kicks in dangerous positions.

But Sprowston didn't lie down and nearly took the lead in the 58th minute. Cable seemed to be fouled as he contested in the air for the ball, but the referee waved play on, leaving a tap-in for the striker - only for Mcmorran to make a last-ditch block off the line to deny a certain equaliser.

This seemed to galvanise Beccles and on 70 minutes, they extended their lead. A long ball was floated into the box for Remblance to beat the keeper in the air and Woods was on hand to poke the ball into an empty net.

Following the build-up to the goal, Remblance was also forced to leave the field due to injury.

On 88 minutes, with Sprowston pushing to get back into the game, Beccles wrapped up the points.

An attack broke down and was cleared to Hurren who turned and sent Woods racing clear on goal. He seemed to have wasted the chance but he was able to return the ball to Hurren, and he fired his shot past two players on the line to make the score 4-1.
