HALES Cricket Club have further invested in their new ground, with a further 2,000 of improvements to the outfield. Having finished very respectable sixth in their first season in Alliance Division One work starts immediately on improving the outfield.
Club chairman Pete Dye emphasised the club's commitment to achieving the perfect playing surface. “For a first season the square played well with average ratio of 362 runs per game showing the potential of the 12 strip square.
“The outfield didn't receive the rain it needed until August which meant the overseed only came through late on with a massive improvement as the grass thickened up” but Dye stressed the club will continue to invest until it is as good as it can get. The overseed and rolling programme should make a massive difference with the moisture in the ground perfect for the new grass to take. We have sourced a contractor from the Norfolk groundsmanship commitee to ensure we get this to the best possible standard.”
The square will be put to bed on Sunday, September 26 with all players, parents and supporters urged to make the 9.30am work party where the groundsmanship trailer will be at the ground along with representatives from the Alliance, ECB pitch advisors and Norfolk groundsmanship to gain the best possible result for 2011.

“Our groundsman have done wonders this year, but this investment will really make the difference. After the work is completed there will be a barbecue to thank those who ensure the work is done. The club is all about development of youth and facilities with both on track to continue the excellent progress made over the past five years.”
