With a spate of illness and injuries laying a number of Bungay Black Dog Running Club athletes low at the weekend, just five members turned out to contest the second in a winter series of three Fritton Lake cross country duathlon races.

On a cold and windy Saturday morning, all five completed the run-bike-run event covering distances of 3km, 10km and 1.5km respectively.

Running in the contra direction from the previous race, the entirely off-road course is around the trails and surrounding woodland of the Fritton Lake Country Park with competitors soaking up the challenge of uneven trail paths and weaving their way around tree stumps and through mud.

First Black Dog home was Jason Hurst, 31st overall in 01:03:00 while, in her first duathlon, Alice Kirk took home a senior age group winner’s trophy for her 73rd place in 01:19:21.

Other results were Troy Douglas-Collow 39 in 01:04:42, Matt Plummer 66 in 01:16:17 and Stuart Young 68 in 01:17:20.
