LODDON A travelled to Frettenham this week where their impressive all-round display saw everybody contribute to a win the Musker McKintyre man-of-the-match T Jermy for a superb all-round match-winning performance.

R Edmonds was happy when, although he lost the toss, Loddon A were asked to field first on an extremely green pitch, which offered assistance to the bowlers in their Norfolk League Division Six match.

R Andrews made good use of the grassy track on his return to the side, finding good seam movement and bounce. It was, however, G Clow who made the early breakthrough, having D Websdale caught by a diving J Perry for three.

The opening bowlers bowled tightly and passed the outside edge on a regular basis. R Andrews finally managed to find N Moggen's edge which was caught by keeper K Johnstone. M Barnham had been chancing his luck at the other end, having been dropped, but was caught at the second chance for 35 off the bowling of M Edmonds.

N Cooper did not look to hang around and was soon bowled by S Davey for six. S Davison followed in similar fashion, being smartly caught behind off T Jermy having scored 15.

No one could stick around and bat with P Davison, who played well for his 55. K Fuller ran himself out for just two.

P Davison did his best to farm the strike, but finally was also a victim of T Jermy. C Wade soon followed, caught off the bowling of A Aldred.

Jermy then picked up his third wicket, also bowling S Southgate. Aldred finished the innings off by bowling a stubborn M Wade for five, leaving Frettenham 150 all out after 38 overs. This had been a good fielding and bowling display by Loddon A.

Loddon A went on the attack to start with aggressive openers N Reeve and K Johnstone. This did not work though as Johnstone was bowled for two in the seventh over by M Thirtle.

Reeve and R Edmonds set about making a steady base to chase down the total, against some tight bowling from M Thirtle.

Thankfully, S Southgate could not maintain the same accuracy as his partner, so runs were freely taken off his overs. Reeve batted very well bringing his 50 and the 50 partnership up with a beautiful straight six.

R Edmonds fell to the last ball of Thirtle's spell, caught at slip for 10. Reeve fell soon after for an excellent 57 to change bowler K Fuller.

S Davey set about running the fielders ragged with quick singles. A Aldred tried to do the same, but ran himself out. G Shipley ran well with Davey, rotating the strike well.

When he was caught for four, Loddon A still required 50 off 10 overs and were in danger of throwing away another game.

J Perry accelerated the run rate with a quick-fire nine before he was bowled. Davey kept finding the fielders but managed to get one a ball.

T Jermy set about putting the Frettenham fielders to the sword, striking two boundaries and running well with S Davey.

Davey kept getting Jermy on strike, so he could find the boundary, and at 40 overs Loddon A were 130, needing 20 off five overs.

Disaster struck when Davey was caught and bowled for 25 by K Fuller. Jermy carried on his way hitting more boundaries, including a final four to take Loddon A over the winning line in the 44th over.
