The juniors of Beccles Rowing Club were again to the fore as the club's sponsored row took place with a pleasing flotilla of boats taking to the water for the lengthy row to Lowestoft Rowing Club and back.

Cambridge Regatta hero Will Loftus glided serenely across the water in a single, no doubt powered by the comforting glow of recent successes.

He was joined by a collection of double sculls, including the irrepressible Erin McGregor, who despite her extremely tender years, did superbly well to complete the trip with energy to spare.

She was paired with the matronly support of Rebecca Haste and the duo were joined in the convoy by Karen Kennedy and Lorna Collins, Chris Humpfries and Mark Taylor and the strong-looking double of John Cowan and Laura Hind.

All the crews were ably supported, cajoled and supervised by Alan and Beryl Bright in the Eton launch and James Lowry-Bartram and James Gilbert in the RIB launch.

Encouraging cheers and smiling faces were provided by Stuart Lamb, Claire McGregor and Andrew Kershaw, who offered much-needed and appreciated support from the bank.

In poetic fashion, the sun broke out as the crews returned to the club for a well-earned cup of tea and a pat on the back.

The very welcome refreshments and sustenance were provided by Claire and Kelly. All crews completed the course, with Erin receiving extra special praise, for a feat that would be way beyond normal rowers barely in double figures!

Well done to all of those who had helped to raise hundreds of pounds, which will be put towards a new training boat for juniors and newcomers.
