Kingfishers Ellen Nelson, Eleanor Veasey, Alex Eames-Bayton, Chas Lees and Eleanor McGrath qualified to swim at the ASA East Region Championships at the UEA, Norwich.

They were the first swimmers to take part in the competition as Beccles Town, some 12 years since any Beccles swimmer took part in this championship.

Eleanor McGrath, aged 11, qualified for five races and went on to qualify for the 100m breaststroke final where she came eighth in the region, achieving personal bests in four of her races. Overall, she came 20th out of 60 in the region.

Alex swam in five races and achieved pbs in all of them. Ellen and Eleanor Veasey both swam in 50m front crawl, Chas swam 100 freestyle and all swimmers gained pbs.

A big thank you goes to Tim and Brian for giving up their weekends to support the swimmers, and to all the coaches.
