Organiser Ian Gosling has attracted a good entry of 20 triples for the day with teams coming from as far away as Earl Soham and Norwich.
The host club is well represented by triples from James Gosling, Arnold King, Tony Murphy, Peter Nunn, Barbara Plaisted, Ann Swanston and Barbara Wortley. Qualifying matches commence at 9am with the finals around 4.45pm. Spectators are welcome.
With the outdoor season winding down there are still three Bungay teams looking for a top two league place and a cup final appearance.
Despite being relegated from division one of the Benacre League after just one season team captain Ian Gosling is hoping to beat Mundham and Seething to earn a place in the Benacre League Easey Cup semi-final.
Barbara Wortley's Halesworth League A team is looking to finish as runner-up to Halesworth, while in the Lowestoft (Bowls England) Men's Triples league Roger Bullen's team hope to do the same as Halesworth who have already won the league.
In their final match of the season Bungay visited Beccles Conservatives and had won on three of the four rinks with the final rink level at 17 apiece.
Bungay skip Alfie Broughton drew shot with his final bowl before Beccles skip Colin Gray with the last bowl of the game played a running forehand bowl to take Alfie's shot out to win the rink and a league point.
The significance of that bowl dawned on the Beccles players as they heard that it had kept them in division one for 2009 at the expense of Waveney by just half of one league point.
Whether Bungay will hold onto their second place in the league and go forward to the county play-offs depends on the result of the one outstanding match in the league to be played during the week.
Lowestoft Railway need to get at least three points out of a possible seven from their match against Wenhaston to pip Bungay to second place.
