Loddon hit back to inflict a third straight defeat on a Mattishall side which had enjoyed a promising return to the Anglian Combination Premier Division.

Loddon kicked off with the strong wind in their backs. The opening quarter produced very little to write about, but it was the visitors who - following a dangerous cross - forced a couple of corners which came to nothing.

Mattishall's Harbour and Brett had shots charged down before Sutherland fired over. Mattishall were dominating despite kicking into the stiff breeze.

Another long throw, this time by Lewis, was again flicked on by Wooden and led to the first goal. The ball fell to Harbour whose initial strike ricocheted off keeper Collins before he toe-poked into the net.

A mazy run by Hall saw him go past two defenders before firing over. And the same player was involved with a one-two with Cole before shooting narrowly wide.

Mattishall went into the interval deservedly in front.

The second half started in the same vein. On 52 minutes Hall lobbed the keeper but the ball just went over.

Minutes later another Lewis long throw was again flicked on by Wooden, it was knocked back to the same player and his crisp shot was turned round a post by the alert Collins. Starling's corner fell to Hall, who drove over.

Mattishall were guilty of dropping too deep and not winning the second ball as Loddon started to dominate the midfield and possession. After a couple of scares they deservedly equalised when a long diagonal ball fell to the unmarked Alex Brown, who made no mistake.

It was all Loddon, and with five minutes left they so nearly took the lead. However, Mattishall did not heed the warning and in the last minute another long diagonal ball found the substitute Richard Greenhalf who scored unchallenged to totally turn the game on its head.
