ANOTHER solid Loddon performance but again, no goals. Seems an all too familiar story of late but managers Creegan and Matthews can be well pleased with the attitude and application showed to deny table-topping Sheringham.

ANOTHER solid Loddon performance but again, no goals.

Seems an all too familiar story of late but managers Creegan and Matthews can be well pleased with the attitude and application showed to deny table-topping Sheringham.

On a lovely sunny day, Loddon started with spring in their step. Robin Andersen showed a great first touch and Brown went close to reaching a Sadler cross and had to settle for a corner.

An impressive seven man move ended when Chohan was just beaten to the ball on the edge of the box.

A Sheringham free-kick was headed just wide and they followed with a shot from 30 yards neither of which troubled Collins.

Sheringham managed the first effort on target after 18 minutes when another free-kick was met at the far post but Collins claimed the header.

Brown had a shot wide after good a good win by Ricky Summons; Chohan appeared to be held, Sheringham broke and Durrant read the through ball well to cut out the danger.

On 38 minutes Loddon almost broke the deadlock. Hancock sent in a free-kick, Way challenged, Ricky Summons headed back into the danger area and Sadler controlled, turned and made space well only for the keeper to make a good block.

Chohan met the resultant corner but could not control his shot. Durrant made two good interceptions at the back, Gary Summons picked up the loose ball and via Sadler, Ricky Summons got a touch but could not get his shot away. Half-time.

Ricky Summons, still suffering from an injury picked up just before half-time, swapped positions with Chohan for the restart. Gary Summons lost two players with a fine turn but then hit his pass too long.

Sheringham looped a header over after good pressure from Way and Ricky Summons sliced an effort wide.

On 10 minutes for once Durrant misjudged a bounce and Sheringham headed onto the bar, Collins punched and Way eventually cleared.

Further pressure saw two attempts just wide as Loddon received a wake up call. Robin Andersen beat his man and picked out Sadler. He touched on for Chohan and a defender did well to block the shot and deflect just over.

At the other end Collins came short to collect a through ball but the striker looped the ball over him. The ever aware Hancock got back to clear off the line.

The Chohan broke forward, beat two defenders but pushed it too far and lost possession to the home keeper. Ricky Summons cleared the high fence behind the goal with a 30 yarder and Sheringham achieved the same heights after good pressure by Hancock.

On 21 minutes Ricky Summons made way for Matthews and his first involvement won a free-kick. Brown scuffed his shot wide. Robin Andersen covered and Dan Andersen did well to clear the resultant corner but Sheringham pressed again and this time Way and Durrant defended stubbornly until a clash of heads gave Loddon a breather.

Sadler then found Brown and Matthews held up for Gary Summons. His shot came back to him off a defender and his second, carefully flighted effort, hit the bar and was cleared. Matthews headed on a long Durrant throw and the ball slipped agonisingly by the far post with no-one near enough to touch it home.

Dan Andersen chased, as he did all day, and won a corner. It was cleared to Gary Summons who was then fouled on the right edge of the box with hopeful appeals for a penalty from the travelling supporters. Durrant took the kick and found Way at the far post. He headed down and hit the keeper's feet and the ball was cleared.

With time running out, Gary Summons shot over and the points were shared.

Again, several candidates, but Richie Durrant just edged Musker McIntyre Man of the Match.
