LODDON had a comfortable win at Kirkley Sports.

But not before catches were dropped, easy singles allowed and Kirkley Sports racked up the runs, quickly regaining the initiative after K Pitman had made an early breakthrough.

The other opener, D Laws, threw his bat at everything and connected with most. He provided the spine of Kirkley Sports batting, ending with 72. But his Loddon team remained calm and buoyant and kept working and soon the wickets fell.

Chris Baker took two for 26 off nine overs, and player of the month Mark Stewart tweaked his leg breaks and took another four wickets, for only 16 runs. At the other end, off-break wizard, Stuart Nunn, snared 2-9.

Other than D Laws, only two Kirkley batsman, made it into double figures, both only getting 10, and Kirkley lost their last seven wickets for 13 runs to end up 128.

Captain, Tom Rowson carried on his form at the top of the order scoring 51 and he was supported by James Riseborough who again carried his bat for 27 not out. Mark Stewart added a quick-fire 23 and Loddon cruised past the total in the 32 over having lost only three wickets!

The win takes them back to second in the table, but they know sterner tests are to follow, starting with Caister away next.

Kirkley Sports 128 (D Laws 72; M Stewart 4-16, C Baker 2-26, S Nunn 2-9).

Loddon 129-3 (T Rowson 51, J Riseborough 27, M Stewart 23).

LODDON II hosted top-of-the-league Hardingham A and put them into bat on a hard, green wicket.

A Wells and K Jones bowled a good tight line and with two wickets each had the hosts in trouble at 36-4. Wells (2-41) then saw two catches missed.Jones then finished of his superb spell 12-5-11-3 which put Loddon in total control with the guests at 56-5.

Hardingham took advantage of the first change bowlers. G Sheenan helped A Hansby in a good stand of 88 which was ended by S Davey as T Jermy pegged back the recovery taking another two wickets in a good spell 6-1-25-2, leaving the hosts on 180-8 with A Hanby 74 not out.

A Edge soon got into the Loddon batting claiming A Wells and K Johnstone both for nought, then taking the in-form S Davey for eight and G Hall for 10 as Loddon II fell away to 29-4.

A Aldred and K Jones (18) dug deep with Aldred flowing to 50 with eight boundaries in a good stand of 72, but as the overs ran out Loddon perished, all out for 125.

Loddon II host Rollesby A next.
