North Walsham Town 0, Loddon United 0

Although not a particularly pretty game, Loddon worked hard and defended resolutely to secure another valuable point at North Walsham.

Following on from the previous week’s win, Loddon played with the same energy and desire but failed to find the flowing football.

A Walsham ‘goal’ was disallowed early on after a wayward clearing header by Robin Andersen only found a home forward who slotted home. But the flag was raised for offside at the initial cross.

Loddon broke quickly and Marjoribanks almost set up Greenhalf, but the ball was scrambled away. Hancock chipped back in and Greenhalf shot over from a tight angle.

Loddon were then gifted a free-kick after the home keeper picked up a dubious back-pass, but Marjoribanks’ drive only won a corner from which the same player went close.

Greenhalf crossed looking for Squire but as he set himself, the defender got there first and cleared. Chris Andersen twice cleared well when under pressure.

A square ball was met, Stebbings slipped but still managed to get a strong hand to the ball and the rebound was fired over.

Dan Andersen won a free-kick, Robin chipped in, a goalmouth scramble ensued and Marjoribanks was pushed over, a hand-ball was not spotted and Baylis sent a tame effort to trickle through to the keeper.

Robin Andersen did well to break past two opponents but Squire was just offside.

Walsham began to resort to the long ball which suited Baylis, Durrant and co at the back, but the passing was poor from both sides. Parkin and Dan Andersen worked a cross but the keeper punched clear.

Loddon were on top at this stage with their defence, especially Durrant and Robin Andersen, picking off Walsham’s efforts.

Squire did well to get into the box but his square ball just evaded Marjoribanks, before Robin Andersen tried his luck, in vain, from 35 yards. The latter got in a good block before Walsham fired over and Stebbings narrowed the angle and made a good save with his feet.

In the second half Stebbings made a good stop from a Walsham header. Greenhalf received a return from Robin Andersen, played into Marjoribanks feet, and a great turn, move and drive forced a finger-tip save.

Walsham broke and Baylis got back with a great retrieving tackle on the edge of his own box. With 15 mionutes to go, Walsham exerted pressure but Loddon stood firm.

Marjoribanks was booked for an innocuous tackle but got back to head the free-kick away. Walsham then hit a post in another scramble and Sadler cleared.

It was backs to the wall as the crosses and corners rained in. Sadler, Summons and Marjoribanks did their bit to help out at the back.

Marjoribanks lost a boot when tackled, but won it back in his sock. He was named as Musker McIntyre man of the match, for his work both up front and defensively.
