THIS was a top-of-the-table hockey clash against Pelicans and Loddon knew only a win would take them top in their first season in the Premier Division.

Loddon once again found themselves a goal behind after 15 minutes having had all the attacking play.

With determination not to let this game go they produced some excellent attacking with Milly Salisbury getting her stick on a goal-bound shot from Leebo Skinner.

It was not to long before Pelicans found themselves ahead again, a superb reverse shot flying past Lobby Raven in goal.

At 2-1 down Loddon knew they had to start playing the hockey that has kept them undefeated in 46 games. They turned the game around to their tempo with some excellent skill by Katie Konieczny who was supported well by her team-mates.

Loddon found the back of the net through Leebo Skinner and from this point Loddon dominated, showing skill and movement across the pitch.

An exciting game to watch but Loddon were not finished, with goals from Rosie Butler and Katie Konieczny.

Pelicans continued to attack but with great defending from Tash Waddington, Gemma Raven and Julia McGraffin Loddon held out until five minutes to go when Pelicans struck a lifted ball high into the goal. Again Loddon fought back to hang onto the 4-3 lead, deservedly winning this tough but thoroughly enjoyable game.

Loddon Ladies thank Phil at Loddon King's Head for sponsorship of new shirts and after-match hospitality.
