They came from a goal down to turn in a fine performance to encourage supporters’ hopes that promotion can still be achieved.

The win came despite conceding an early goal. This time it came after just 59 seconds, as a misplaced pass set up an Aylsham move which ended in James Oliver curling a fine shot inside the post.

The Black Dogs responded well and took the game to Aylsham. Mark Clay hooked a half chance over, before Aylsham went close in the ninth minute as Bligh did well to scoop a downward header off the line following a free kick.

Lowe got in a snap-shot from 20 yards which tested the home keeper and Josh Knights fired two well-struck efforts over the bar. Then Dom Mirner had a shot blocked, before Bligh got down to save an Aylsham effort.

It was third time lucky for Knights in the 32nd minute as Craig Hunting played the ball into the area and Knights picked it up to fire a controlled shot wide of the keeper for his fifth goal of the season.

The Black Dogs had the better of the second half. Brannan Solomon netted in the 48th minute but the whistle has already gone for offside, and soon after a clearance rebounded off the same player but went wide. Bligh made a fine save to keep out a far post header, and then saved from another well-struck shot. The home side then struck a post in a purple patch.

But Bungay looked good going forward, and two penalties turned the game. First a defender clawed an effort off the line, and was shown a red card before Lowe converted the penalty. Then in the 77th minute the striker produced the same result from another spot kick after Clay was felled.

Bungay created more chances as they looked to make their greater numbers tell, but Aylsham were still in it, and caused an anxious final few minutes when Phil Read made it 3-2.

Bungay: Bligh, Olley, Hunting, J Riches, Jones, Mirner, Daniels (Moore), Knights, Clay, Lowe, Solomon.

Tomorrow Bungay make the trip to Dersingham for a league game at 2.30pm.
