Medals delight for Calver
Beccles Kuk Sool 2nd Dan black belt Richard Calver travelled to Spain to take part in the sixth Spanish Kuk Sool Tournament held in St Feliu near Barcelona.
Beccles Kuk Sool 2nd Dan black belt Richard Calver travelled to Spain to take part in the sixth Spanish Kuk Sool Tournament held in St Feliu near Barcelona.
He did amazingly well in a competition with over 200 competitors.
He gained a gold medal for self defence, a bronze medal in both empty-hand forms and weapons form and fourth place for his short-stick demonstration.
This was Calver's first oversees tournament.

He brought four medals back to the Beccles club and hopes to repeat his success at the upcoming European Championships in King's Lynn on May 30.
Calver has been training at the Beccles club for the last eight years under the tuition of Master Philip Hinchliffe.

Hinchliffe said: “We are all very proud of Richard's recent achievements in Spain; it just goes to show what can be gained by hard practice and dedication.”
Calver is a familiar face in Beccles and works at Seppings the Butchers.
