BUNGAY Taekwondo Club has had a great start to the tournament season of 2010.
Twenty club students travelled to Wellingborough for the Eastern Region GTUK Inter Club Challenge and gained a host of medals in all divisions, leading to another brilliant second place - which was the third such placing in three years.
Wellingborough, a club triple the size of Bungay, won the competition whilst Cambridge, Kettering, Roade, Northampton, Raunds and Grange Park all finished below Bungay in the league table.
Bungay achieved 21 medals including 10 golds, seven silver and four bronzes. One family did especially well with Nidge (gold destruction and silver sparring), Suzi (gold sparring), Logan (gold sparring and silver patterns) and Kal Bedingfield (gold sparring) all reaching the podium. Sophie (gold sparring) and Jenna Akerman (silver sparring) also did really well, ending up in the final together after tough bouts.
