THE non-national meet at Northampton is always a popular one, and a group of swimmers from St Felix School Swimming club were hopeful of competing well, gain county qualifying times for next year and of course win some medals.
THE non-national meet at Northampton is always a popular one, and a group of swimmers from St Felix School Swimming club were hopeful of competing well, gain county qualifying times for next year and of course win some medals.
Hamish Munro-Smith started the medal roll off with a superb swim in the 100m breast gaining him a bronze medal. He then continued his success by gaining new times in 50m breast, 200m back and 100m back.
Sophie Bowler then added two gold medals in her 50m back and 100m breast and new times in most of her races and again county qualifying times in the 200m free, 50m back, 200m IM, 50m free, 400m free, 50m breast and the 100m IM.
More medals were on the way with Arna Tolliday winning silver in 50m back and silver in 200m back, and gaining county times in both as well as 200m IM and 50m free. Jenny Beevor had eight races over the weekend and gained county qualifying times in seven of the races and three medals; bronze in 100m breast and 400m free and silver in 100m IM.
Two more bronze medals were added by Nick Catton in 200m IM and 50m fly and more county qualifying times. Riasa Douglas-Collow had three swims over the weekend and certainly made them count. She took gold in 50m and 100m free and silver in the 400m free.
Brother and sister Oliver and Isabelle Postle were the last St Felix swimmers to add to the medal table and after gaining new times and county qualifying times in most of their races Isabelle took silver in 100m free and gold in 100m IM and Oliver bronze in 200m free.
Lily Charlesworth and Troy Douglas-Collow had some excellent swims over the weekend with Lily taking 10 seconds of her 400m free swim and Troy just missing out on a medal in the 50m free by coming fourth.
The final medal count was five gold, five silver and five bronze with 32 county qualifying times and out of the 60 swims, 31 new times were achieved. This was an excellent result for the final open meet of the season and Laura O'Connell, Age Group Coach was very proud of all the achievements of the swimmers.
