BECCLES Cricket Club welcomed Stow in a must-win game after dropping their first three games in Alliance Division One.

The day started on a good note with captain Dave Turrell winning the toss and sending Stow into bat.

Hoping to make early inroads into their top order were Daniel Vihm and Gary Caswell.

Some good tight early bowling eventually brought two wickets to Daniel Vihm to have them 2-35 and in a little bit of early trouble.

But a good partnership between Catworth and Landymore put Stow right back in the game with Catworth making a patient 73 and Landymore a hard-hitting 46.

Some late-order hitting from Molten 38no and Zimbabian player Mahwire 16 saw Stow make a more than respectable 6-212 off their 46 overs with Daniel Vihm getting 4-50 and Richard Holmes and Richard Porter getting a wicket each.

Beccles began their chase dreadfully with the Turrell brothers out without scoring to Zimbabian opening bowler Mahwire.

Reeling at 2-0, Beccles badly required a partnership and Richard Porter joined Daniel Vihm with the pair putting on 45 before Vihm was out for 15.

Then a partnership between Richard Porter and Richard Holmes saw Beccles back on track for a bit before Holmes was bowled for 16.

The only other to batsmen to pass double figures were young Richard Porter who made a well-compiled 38 and first gamer Glen Wright's 11 proving he can play his part.

Beccles were eventually bowled out for 104 with 212 proving just too much after some tight bowling from Stow with Mahwire the chief destroyer taking 4-21.
