Members of Beccles Cricket Club are looking forward to stepping back onto the field after attracting a new kit sponsor.

Hickman Supplies of Beccles has become the club’s main sponsor for the year and has funded a new kit for members.

Neil Hickman, director of the company, handed the kit over to the club’s first team on Beef Meadow at Beccles Common, ahead of their win over Dereham.

The club is also hoping to attract new players for the summer season, particularly youngsters.

Chris Robson, chairman of the cricket club, said: “We would like to thank Neil Hickman for coming down to see us and for all their generous support.

“The club has been playing cricket for 60 years at Beef Meadow and promotes opportunities for people of all ages to progress in cricket.

“We are particularly interested in attracting more youngsters to the club and if anyone is interested in joining, our under eight and under 11 teams meet at 6pm on Wednesdays, and our under 13 and under 15 teams meet at 6pm on Mondays.”

The club also runs two adult cricket teams which train on Tuesdays at 6pm and play matches on Saturdays.

Junior matches are also held throughout the summer months, with members getting the chance to compete against other clubs from the area.

Mr Robson added: “In an exciting new venture the club will also be entering a Sunday league, which will be a development league, and will allow the junior players to play alongside the adults in a mixed team.”
