The launch of Goldline Travel of Beccles as the new club sponsor looks set to help bring more successful and exciting times at the club. Kingfishers and Goldline are looking to form a strong partnership and support the further growth of the club.

The team followed the launch with a very strong gala at Hadleigh in round two of summer league, looking to extend on their 26-point lead at the top of Division Two. It was a goal that the swimmers accomplished in style in challenging surroundings.

In the boys, Jacob Barber and Thomas Taylor led the way, Jacob pulling off an impressive first in his 100m backstroke and Thomas doing the same in the individual medley followed by a second in the 100m breaststroke. Robert Thurtell added two second places in the 50m butterfly. Charles Lees gained a first in the 50m freestyle and a second in his 50m backstroke.

The younger boys age groups saw Dalton Yallop get a second in the 50m breaststroke followed by a third in the 50m freestyle. Matthew Seaman and Josh Birch also picked up first places, Josh in his 50m backstroke and Matthew in the butterfly.

The girls matched this with a further nine first places, Jenny Seaman in her 100m butterfly, followed by Sophie Podd in the 100m breaststroke. She got a third in the individual medley.

Louise Shepherdson gained a strong first in the 100m backstroke and a third in 100m freestyle. Eleanor Capps-Jenner and Sophie Bircham put in strong swims for the 12/u age group, Eleanor picking up two personal best.

The younger girls saw the formidable partnerships of Nina Bircham and Jenny Beevor for the 11/u and Felicity Putman and Eleanor McGrath in the 10/u. Nina picked up first in her 50m backstroke and Jenny a good second in her 50m breaststroke. Eleanor McGrath gained a first in her 50m breaststroke and a second in her butterfly, and Felicity rounded it all off with a first in the 50m freestyle.

The gala ended with Beccles securing 17 first places and winning by 30 points. Result: Beccles 217, Hadleigh 187, Leiston 180, Deban 170, Felixstowe 156.

Beccles will take a massive 56-point lead into the final round at Leiston on July 28 with the current league table standing at Beccles 432, Hadleigh 376, Deban, 345, Leiston 339, Felixstowe 308.
