The annual memorial run in memory of Jim Jervis, founder member of Bungay Black Dog Running Club, took place on a beautiful summer evening and saw over 40 regular club members run the picturesque route from Bungay to Earsham over Bath Hills.
“This was one of Jim’s favourite training runs,” said BBDRC’s John Wharton. “Many in the club have fond memories of him and though others may never have met him, they will have benefited from his legacy.”
Jim was an instigator of the Bungay Marathon for which he was race director for many years and he was chairman and president of the Black Dog Running Club over a period of more than 20 years.
“He was a very active Bungay citizen, who did much for the town,” added John. “He was a much loved and colourful character who sadly passed away four years ago.”
The runners stopped at the Queen’s Head in Earsham to raise a glass in Jim’s memory and were joined by his widow Marlene who chatted to club members old and new. After the run, club members made a donation of £25 to the Fisher Theatre.
