Bungay Town Ladies made hard work of a game against UEA they should have won easier than the 4-3 final score.

They started on a bitterly cold afternoon as if they would run up a good score with Annie Piper scoring 2 quick goals after being put clean through with good passing moves.

As the snow showers and the wind increased Bungays game slowly fell apart and UEA were allowed to come more into the game, and it came as no surprise when the powerfull and quick UEA centre forward was given time to run on to a high though pass to beat Gemma Holiday.

Bungay should have increased their lead before half time but first Imo Williams and then Annie Piper's finishing was disappointing.

At the start of the second half UEA were again given to much room and levelled the scores with a good shot from the edge of the area, but gradually Bungay got to grips with what was required and became more dominant, with Lauren Purling showing the way by getting in first with a number of good defensive headers and clearances and UEA were again pinned back in their own half.

This pressure finally paid off when a clearance from the UEA keeper was controlled by Annie Piper and driven back into the goal off the far post to complete her second hat-trick in successive games.

Imo Williams then made it 4-2 with a goal she made herself by first beating two defenders and then from the edge of the area lobbing the keeper, Imo, Annie and Lauren Mickleburgh all went close but when concentration lapsed UEA were allowed to reduce the arrears when once again when their centre forward was not closed down and ran through to score from a narrow angle.

Bungay saw out the game with no more scares but will need to be more organised and disciplined in future games if a top spot is to be achieved.
