Late stand-in Josh Pitcher also bowled well as Hales were put to the sword in the field.
In reply, Alfie Kaye top scored with a controlled 17 and he received support from Dye (14), Ayre (12) and Chris Read (9), who batted superbly, as Hales made 83 before being bowled out in the 29th over.
