A WEIGHTLIFTER from Uggeshall has smashed the world junior and sub-junior Commonwealth record for the squat.
Joseph Walton, a sixth-form student at the Sir John Leman High School who has just turned 17, is now ranked third in the world for squat after he lifted 240kg at the British Junior Championships in Birmingham last month.
“Hopefully I'm going to build on this,” said Joseph. “But it starts to put me up with the best. I've got plenty left.”
Joseph said he would like to thank Mike's Gym in Holton, where he trains, and Beccles Weighlifting Club.
