Roller will help smooth way for Topcroft’s cricketers
TOPCROFT CC has been awarded a 10,000 grant towards a new cricket roller. Club chairman Rodney Baldwin said: “We are delighted to have received this grant from the Sport England small grant programme.
“This has enabled us to replace our ageing pitch roller with a new and much heavier Poweroll roller.
“This new roller is much safer to use, is far easier to drive, more reliable, and more economical than the old roller, and without the grant we would never have been in the position to afford the purchase of a brand new roller.
“We are always looking at ways to grow and develop the club and this purchase will really help us to improve the quality of our wicket.”
Chris Perks, Sport England’s regional lead for the East of England, said: “If community sports clubs want to attract and retain participants, they need to be able to offer quality facilities for everyone.
“The improvements to Topcroft Cricket Club’s facilities will be welcomed by regular users and those who are new to cricket.”
Sport England invests National Lottery and Exchequer funding in projects that will grow and sustain participation in grass-roots sport and create opportunities for people to excel at their chosen sport.
