BECCLES had a good warm up for their vital trip to Canvey Island tomorrow with a comfortable victory in this friendly. Beccles scored regularly throughout the game.

They took the opportunity to give some of the second XV players a chance with the first XV with Pennington, Hewitt and Dyer given their chance. All three performed well and will get chances in the future.

Beccles started well and were soon in front. After a number of drives close to the line Arnold found a gap in the defence and went over for a try.

Murray cut through the defence to score under the posts. Wade and Gedney were next on the score sheet. Both ran good lines and then crashed through a number of tackles to score. Broadland got on the score sheet with a penalty before Sale completed the scoring for the first half with another try.

Broadland played better in the second half. Beccles broke out of defence and Frost sprinted away from the tacklers to score. Another try soon followed when Sale broke down the wing to score his second try.

Near the end Beccles put together one more try. Johnstone fed the ball inside to Porter who broke through the defensive line. He unselfishly passed to Murray, who scored under the posts then added the conversion to take his point tally to 24 for the afternoon against his old club. He was made the Musker McIntyre man of the match.

Beccles travel to Canvey Island knowing a win would open up a gap between them and the chasing pack and cement their place in the top half of their league.
