The winter lay-off must have done him the world of good because he hit what he described as “a really proper golf shot” to score his first ever hole-in-one on the seventh.
It must have been well struck - the hole measures 170 yards and he took a 9 iron that produced a couple of bounces in front of the green and then straight in! Perhaps he should start giving short iron lessons!
