Topcroft CC celebrate a successful season

Topcroft Cricket Club held their end of season dinner at Bungay and Waveney Valley Golf Club.
Club chairman James Goodfellow was delighted to welcome over 100 people to the evening and was pleased to report 2014 had been another good season for the club.
Both Saturday first and second teams maintained their position in Divisions One and Six of the Norfolk Cricket Alliance respectively. The Sunday team also held their place in Division Two of the Mid-Norfolk Sunday Cricket League.
The Sunday Colts team was again a huge success, with lots of juniors getting their first taste of adult cricket.
The club was rightly proud that it was also a great season for the ladies team, who played their first season in the TGS Women’s Cricket League - Division Two winning three games.
The juniors had another successful year with the highlight being Topcroft U9s winning the South Norfolk Community League. Overall the junior section has shown great improvement once again, which is excellent for the future of the club.
James then went on to thank the committee for their support, the members who volunteered to make fantastic teas throughout the season, Rodney Baldwin, Andrew Murgatroyd and Marcus Knobs for their help maintaining the field and square and to the main sponsors Cunninghams Auto of Hempnall and President Jimmy Bennett of Earsham Gravels for their continued financial support.
Neil Twyman was given a gift for his help coaching the current U15s through from their time as U11s.
James asked everyone to raise their glass to Eric Todd who played a vital part in the founding of the club and who sadly passed away this year.
James was then presented with a gift for his work as chairman for the past two seasons as he is stepping down from his role.
The awards were followed by a raffle and auction with some fantastic prizes thanks to Dave Reader.
The club thank all who have supported them, saying it would be nothing without the help of its members.
