Sheringham 0, Loddon United 2

LODDON United completed their great escape with a convincing win at Sheringham to ensure they stay in the Anglian Combination Premier Division.

A great way to finish the season with good performances all around the park, especially the energetic Dan Cris and Musker McIntyre MoM Shaun Jermy.

Dan Andersen snatched an effort which went wide of the mark.

Shaun Jermy, brought in alongside Baylis to deputise for the injured Durrant, was in fine form from the start as Loddon weathered a mini storm.

A break and neat passing move through Crisp and Gary Summons gave Robin Andersen a chance which faded wide.

Loddon had to deal with Sheringham’s quick breaks. Parkin and Gary Summons were closing down and creating well.

Marjoribanks went close at the far post and Crisp had a shot blocked. Greenhalf worked hard to cover Robin Andersen and allow him freedom to go forward.

Hancock then did well to close a shot and Jermy had to foul when turned. Crisp shot high and wide, as did the home number 11 as the game swung from end-to-end.

Loddon had the help of the offside flag when Sheringham broke through; Baylis holding his line well.

Stebbings was brought into action and claimed well. Dan Andersen had a half chance and then Crisp could only find the keeper with a chip.

Marjoribanks forced a good save and Greenhalf had a half chance when the home keeper sliced a panicked clearance.

The keeper then claimed a goalmouth scramble.

Quick play down the left by the Andersens won a corner, Gary Summons fired it in, Marjoribanks headed onto the bar and Parkin was at hand close in to finish off and trigger whoops of delight from the travelling bench and posse.

Crisp then beat his man but his drive was deflected away. He then chased back 50 yards to help defend and epitomise the work ethic of this team.

Marjoribanks volleyed a poor clearance over the bar. A rare error by Robin Andersen was superbly covered by Jermy.

Parkin found Crisp on the right, he headed to the centre-half who turned and saw his back-pass intercepted by Riches, and with a cool finish he gave Loddon a two-goal cushion and ensure the ‘Great Escape’.

A fitting finish for the young Riches who has done well every time he has been with the first team and looks a great prospect for the future.
