Chelmsford City Football Club hosted an over-65s walking football tournament and Beccles Town sent down a team to join eight others in the competition.

It was run as a round robin event which meant Beccles played every other team once.

Teams came from all over the country, Birmingham, Southend, Norwich, Stevenage and Chelmsford plus other towns and was highly competitive throughout. The pitches were bigger than the team were normally used to but they started off with a 1-0 win which set them in good stead for the rest of the tournament.

By halfway Beccles had won three and lost one but knew they were still in with a shout and in the second half of the tournament the team overcame a nasty injury to the goalkeeper to end up with six wins with two losses, only conceding two goals in the eight games that they played.

Beccles came out with the best overall results and collected the trophy.
