Waveney Valley AC members Matt Jeffries and Sam Lines competed for Suffolk on Sunday in the Brighton 10k.

The event was the Inter-Counties Championships and just under 2,000 athletes took part.

Against many of the nation’s top class club runners, Matt finished a highly respectable 23rd in a personal best time of 32.20. Sam was placed 117th, and 12th lady, in a time of 37.00, just two seconds outside her best time.

Sam was pleased with her performance as an injury had affected her training in recent months.

Twenty-six members took part in the Adnams Southwold 10k. Lee Cook crossed the finish line in a splendid second place out of 753 competitors in 34.55. Steve Carruthers was seventh in a personal best 37.41 with Tim Moore 15th in 38.50, a PB also.

Dominic Oliver from City of Norwich AC came home first in a speedy 34:48.

At the Snetterton Half Marathon, Chris Pimlott ran a personal best time of 1:24.32, finishing in 16th from the field of 566. Chris is a long serving member of the club and is enjoying his best ever form. Lisa Wilson (331st) notched up another personal best for herself this year with 2:00.56. Lisa Stewart, in her first half marathon, was 334th in 2:01.23 and Demelza Hammond was 531st in 2:13.59.

Pat McCabe took part in the Walton-on-Thames Remembrance Sunday Marathon, which was four out-and-back loops and held off-road on a river towpath. Pat’s official finishing time, with the two minutes taken off for observing the silence, was 4:35.22. He finished 116th out of 356 runners.

In the Broadland Half Marathon, Karim Ouaddane was 30th out of 273 in a time of 1:32.34 with Debbie Foster 241st in 2:16.20.
