Conditions took on a somewhat wintery theme on Sunday morning as a hard early frost greeted the five helms and the safety crew that turnout for the final series races at Beccles Amateur Sailing Club.

Faced with a moderate but shifty south westerly all got away off the first start but the fast ebbing tide meant a hard slow beat especially for the three Norfolks. Ryan Langston with Amy Hewitt (pictured left), in the RS200 grabbed an early lead, and remained unchallenged throughout to take the win despite Tim Revell in his Laser staying close, while a navigation error by the Norfolk helms lost them valuable time as they all returned to unwind at three.

With a least three over the line a general recall delayed the race two start but eventually five got away merrily into the warming sunshine. Another win by Langston and Hewitt secured them second place in the Icicle Shield during a race where keeping clear of the muddy bottom close to the banks was essential as the water level continued to drop.

Glen Curtis and Rachael Folkard clinched a second on corrected time to finish third overall. Last race of the year is a pursuit on Boxing Day.
