Young Beccles rugby players enjoy themselves at Southwold

Beccles mini rugby section travelled to Southwold on a sunny morning for their first matches of the season.
Lowestoft and Yarmouth also provided opposition Under-7s for the first away games of the season.
It was a good all round performance from the boys and girls in green with some confident running resulting in a host of tries.
Everyone played well and William came away with player of the day and Noah claimed the player of the match.
The under-8s fielded two teams and picked up three wins and a draw, with Gabriel and the whole team being chosen as players-of-the-match.
The U9 boys scored tries and enjoyed themselves. The first game was really tight affair with six tries each at the final whistle. In the second match Beccles played with three L&Y players and rolling subs - this broke the continuity of the game and Southwold were ahead at the final whistle.
Francis was player-of-the-match, having only come into the team this year. He played well and along with Ollie M and Josh caused Southwold problems with strong running and tackling. Alfred and Archie played strongly to the end while Isaac made his presence felt with his trademark tackles and darting runs. With a return to rugby this year Corbyn and Flynn are settling in nicely and picking up the game well.
There were fantastic first matches of the season for the U-12s. In match one against Southwold there was absolutely nothing in it and the visitors recorded a deserved draw.
Next up was Lowestoft & Yarmouth with the team continuing their great attacking rugby resulting in several great team tries.
Beccles U13s beat Swaffham U13s 35-15 after being 15-10 down at half-time. Turning into the breeze the Beccles pack started to overpower the larger opposition scrum and the majority of rucks starting turning green, thus provided the half backs the ball needed to release the rapid and developing backline.

Having conceded their Junior Vase tie at Harwich and Dovercourt last week, Beccles first team return to action in Eastern Counties One North tomorrow with a trip to Diss Saracens.
