Brooke Cricket Club have recruited a selection of the county’s finest young talent as they look to build on last year’s fourth place finish in the Norfolk Alliance Premier Division.

League action starts tomorrow for the club’s first team as they host Vauxhall Mallards A at Brooke House Park.

Brooke have signed three Norfolk Under-19 players - Tom Nudd, from Acle, Oli Howes, from Hardingham and Joe Oakey, from Mundford.

The overseas player is Jeandre
Jumat, a seam bowling South
African all-rounder, who has played first-class cricket with Northerns in his homeland.

Anglia Tonight presenter Jonathan Wills has also joined, having played for Norwich in the EAPL last summer.

First-team skipper Rob Panter said: “Our playing base is now very strong. With the core of the squad having played together for the past four or five years we are hoping the improvement will really show this year.

“Players such as John Habershon, Stuart Pritty, Ed Sturman and John Andrews have a great deal of experience and bring a lot to the team.

“We also have some very gifted youngsters – Oli Stamp will play first- team cricket and is a very talented player, while the second team contains some strong young players, who will continue to improve and make
their mark in the first team in the coming seasons.”
