METFIELD Stores will be showing the fruits of their labour on Sunday as they celebrate Apple Day.The traditional event began 20 years ago and there will be advice on how to save a village shop as well many apple related foods.
METFIELD Stores will be showing the fruits of their labour on Sunday as they celebrate Apple Day.
The traditional event began 20 years ago and there will be advice on how to save a village shop as well many apple related foods.
There will be a chance to local apple juices to try, including Suffolk apple juice from Ilketshall St Lawrence, apple pies baked by Metfield Village Kitchen and Metfield villagers, apple ice cream,
At noon everyone is invited to an apple ramble lasting around an hour. Led by Eddie Krutysza, participants will meander around apple trees in the village before walking through the forest past crab-appled hedgerow to Wakelyn's Agro-forestry, a field planted by Ann and Martin Wolfe with 21 heritage varieties of apple trees.
Afterwards the community bus will take walkers back to soup, with or without apples, prepared by the Village Kitchen.
Apple Day takes place from 10.30am to 2pm.
