THE amusing, but also deeply moving drama, 84, Caring Cross Road, is being staged at the Fisher Theatre at Bungay tomorrow evening by the Open Space Theatre Company.

THE amusing, but also deeply moving drama, 84, Caring Cross Road, is being staged at the Fisher Theatre at Bungay tomorrow evening by the Open Space Theatre Company.

It is there as part of a regional tour and has already been highly acclaimed by critics. Based on a book which was later made into a successful film, it tells the story of a transatlantic relationship spanning two decades after the second world war.

That relationship is between a burgeoning New York writer with a quirky sense of humour, Helenae Hanff and the manager of a London bookshop to whom she sends an inquiry.

Tickets are �8.50 (�6 concessions) for the performance which starts at 7.30pm.

On Sunday afternoon the Jay Singers, often described as Norfolk's favourite choir, are giving a concert at 3pm. Their repertoire spans 500 years, and they have two CDs to their credit. Their programme undertakes a whistleshop tour of the world, a visit to the orchestra pit of an opera house, and their own versions of music by Cole Porter, The Beatles and Billy Joel. Tickets are �8 (�7 concessions).

Wednesday is St Patrick's Night and the Onion Band will be leading the Irish celebrations with a raft of Irish classics. There will by a guest appearance by the Violet O'Shaughnessy Ale House Stompers, and the �6 tickets include Irish stew. The fun begins at 7.15pm.

Tonight there is a Whose Line is It Anyway improv night, at 8pm. The Thursday film ext week is An Education (12A), at 7.30pm.
