Turning Worlds Dance Company will be returning to The Cut arts centre in Halesworth on Saturday, May 7, to present their new production Semaphore #selfies.

The show is a sumptuous dance and music performance which celebrates our creative part in the ever expanding digital universe.

The five dancers signal to the past whilst waving to the future in a production that considers the contemporary self in a many channelled culture where images, words and music unfold and intertwine to create sophisticated performance complexity.

Choreographer Jane Turner has long been exploring the relationship between the dancing body in a technolological environment, which has led to investigating scientific ideas in relation to creative composition. Inspired by the paradoxical quantum realities – that matter and energy are the same – this production plays with dance and music forms and their notations towards new poetic expression in performance.

Drawing on influences from baroque to tango in expressing representations of ourselves, the performers interact with tracking technologies and sensing environments created by composer Richard Hoadley to trigger new performance inventions before your eyes.

Tickets for the performance, which starts at 7.30pm, cost £10 or £8 for concessions.
