A modern jazz quartet will be bringing the smooth and sophisticated sounds of the early 50s and 60s to Beccles.

Jazz Unlimited will be appearing at Beccles Public Hall, in Smallgate, on Sunday, May 20.

The band is led by local musician Ray Simmons who previously performed at the hall with his Benny Goodman-style trio Palomar in 2016.

A public hall spokesman said: “Co-led by local guitar hero Phil Brooke, Jazz Unlimited offers a relaxed and soloistic sound evoking American small group jazz of the ‘50s and 60s with material extending from the earliest years of the Jazz Age.

“Ray feels Jazz Unlimited can be proud of a repertoire almost limitless in scope with compositions by WC Handy, Gershwin, Ellington and many others comfortably rubbing shoulders with the likes of ‘modernists’ Dave Brubeck and Miles Davis in a heady cocktail which is guaranteed to set your toes tapping.”

Tickets for the event are available from the hall box office by calling 01502 770 060 or visiting www.becclespublichall.orgFor more information on the band visit: www.jazzlimited.co.uk
