The Merry Opera Company brings Christopher Cowell’s new translation of Puccini’s much loved opera La Bohéme to Beccles Public Hall for one night only next Friday, February 12.
La Bohéme, one of the greatest romances in opera, will be performed at 7.30pm as part of a professional tour across Southern England.
This captivating tale of the comedy of everyday life sees director Christopher Cowell create this translation especially for Merry Opera. In a coincidence that can befall any one of us, a chance meeting leads to a joyful, passionate and ultimately desperate love affair. Through this heart breaking story the bubbling, carefree exuberance of four young, penniless, Latin Quarter students, matures into moments of jealousy and anger, turning finally to real shock at the premature death of Rodolfo’s first love, the beautiful Mimi. The young, up and coming music director and conductor, Harry Sever - a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama - joins Merry Opera for the first time.
Tickets are £10 or £9 for concessions and can be purchased at www.becclespublichall.com, by calling 01502 770060 or drop in to the box office open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 3pm.
