THE Geldeston Locks Beltane and May Day celebrations take place this Sunday.
The pagan-themed festivities start at 2.30pm and include music and dancing from Point Devis Morris, theatre from the Thameside Mummers, lively folk music from Murphy's Lore, and feasting from the barbecue, bars and tea room.
The highlight of the afternoon will be the crowing of the Waveney Valley's May Queen, followed by a dance display from the June Glennie School of Dance around the Locks Inn maypole.
The maypole, with its multi-coloured ribbons, is a symbol of the season's fertility and the spiral of life.

And the mysterious and mischievous character Jack in the Green, the greenest man in the Waveney Valley, might put in an appearance.
Landlord Colin Smith said: “Living out on the marshes we are very aware of the importance of being in tune with and celebrating the turn of the seasons. Maybe our ancestors knew something we've long forgotten about guaranteeing our health, wealth and prosperity by honouring the earth with such ceremonies, and of course having a jolly good time while doing so.”
