A village band stalwart will once again be honoured at a special memorial concert.

Loddon Band will perform at Holy Trinity Church from 7.30pm on Saturday, July 21, in memory of Ron Hinton, who was responsible for reviving the group in the late 1960s and continued to play well into his 80s.

After Mr Hinton’s death in March 2017, a memorial concert featuring a selection of his favourite music was held in September and was so successful that the band have organised a follow-up event to remember’s his countless contributions.

Mr Hinton was life president of the band and also taught science at Hobart High School for more than 20 years.

Michael Cadman, the band’s honourary secretary, said: “The memorial concert last year for Ron was so well received that we thought it would be a good idea to give the community a further opportunity to remember him and enjoy the band.”
