WINE lovers in Bungay will be treated to a fruity and full-bodied performance at the end of the month when Julian Curry brings his one-man show Hic! to The Fisher Theatre.

Hic! is a light-hearted history of wine written and performed on stage by Mr Curry, best known for his portrayal of Claude Erskine-Brown in the television series Rumpole of the Bailey.

A distinguished career on both stage and screen has included leading roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal National Theatre, but he is also an ardent student of wine and holds a diploma from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust.

The history starts in 1961, with master of wine Hugh Johnson opening and tasting a 1540 bottle of German Steinwein.

The evening will start with wine tastings held by The Imperial Wine Company of Bungay.

Les Hoare, marketing manager at The Fisher, said: “This is a fun night for wine buffs or those, like me, who prefer to concentrate their efforts into the tasting of wine.

“Julian delivers a performance that is informative but entertaining and totally enjoyable. We could not think of a better way to start an evening devoted to wine than to have a wine tasting and we are grateful to The Imperial Wine Company for their involvement.”

The show is on Sunday, March 28 at 8pm. The wine tasting starts at 8pm. Tickets are 12, available by calling 01986 897130.
