WINSTON the Singing farmer is entertaining at the Fisher Theatre at Bungay this evening.

Some have described him as Benny Hill in a Barbour, serving up the sort of material that might make a milkmaid blush and most audiences laugh. He has a naughtiness that has largely disappeared now, making this show even more of a treat.

It is at 7.30pm and tickets are 8 (7 concessions).

Tomorrow evening two extraordinary acts meet for the first time in a double bill at The Fisher, for one night only, Elephant Shelf and Rupert Herries.

London's Elephant Shelf is a truly one off, presenting a thrilling show of original songs from their new album, In Trouble Again. They draw on the classic sounds of swing blues, jazz, rock, bluegrass and reggae. Led by Vicky Martin on vocals and guitars and Princess Diana Stone's wild gipsy violin and keyboards, tyhey also feature tiny blond bombshell Little Rosie Swan on vocals.

Rupert Herries presents songs from his show, Tales of Horror, Mystery and Suspense recently performed to enthusiastic audiences in Woodbridge and Halesworth. A unique performer, his songs are refreshingly honest and down to earth, funny, sad, engaging, full of insight and often deeply moving. Tickets are 10 (8 concessions) and it is at 7.30pm.

On Tuesday evening SM productions are staging Harold Pinter's the Caretaker at the theatre, at 7.30pm. Pinter had his first major success with this absurdity masterpiece, and it remains as menacing, bleak and darkly hilarious as ever under the direction of Richard Melchior. It is seen as a landmark in 20th century drama. Tickets are 8 (6 concessions).

And on Wednesday evening Sir Jonathan Miller is at Bungay. The author, lecturer, television producer, presenter and theatre, opera and film director will talk about his life and take questions. An Evening with Sir Jonathan is at 7.30pm and tickets are 20.

The Thursday film next week at 7.30pm is Cheri (15), a period drama starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Rupert Friend, Kathy Bates and Felicity Jones.

Tickets for all events at the Fisher are available through the box office on 01986 897130 or via the website: www.fishertheatre.org.
