A new musical detailing the struggles behind the fight for the women’s vote is coming to Beccles.
Yakety Yak Young Actors Company bring Suffragette! to Beccles Public Hall, in Smallgate, on Friday October 5.
The musical tell the story of Camilla the music hall performer, Millicent Garret Fawcett, Princess Sophia Duleep Singh, Violet the mill worker, Kitty Marshall, Emmeline Pankhurst’s underground bodyguard and Christabel Pankhurst, suffragettes caught up in the bitter struggle for women’s votes.
A public hall spokesman said: “In the centenary of women’s partial suffrage, the company honour their stories in a musical extravaganza that tells of the courage, love, and determination to win a world fit for their daughters to live in.
The play is directed by Agnes Lillis and features an exceptional all female cast.
