MURDER and mystery is the fare at the Fisher Theatre at Bungay next week as the theatre presents Curtain Up on Murder on three nights from Thursday.

The play by Bettina Manktelow is director by Karen Carter, and the plot surrounds an amateur dramatic company rehearsing a thriller at the end of the pier. However, they find they are locked in, and members are gradually being killed off. Is the culprit one of them, or someone else locked in the theatre, who will not stop till they are all dead?

It is at 7.30pm nightly and tickets are 6 (5 concessions).

The following Wednesday, October 28, Dave Swarbrick and Kevin Dempsey, whose musical partnership stretches back to the early 1980s, are presenting a concert. The programme will explore long forgotten and early English traditional tunes, and traditional and baroque songs, injecting new life and verve into the largely unknown music. The concert is at 8pm and tickets are 12.

On October 29, the John Whitehead Trio with Sally Voakes are entertaining, and on October 30, Jason Robert Brown's play Last Five Years is being staged. It uses a form of storytelling in which struggling actress Cathy travels backwards in time as rising novelist Jamie travels forward. It is at 7.30pm and tickets are 8 (7 concessions).

The month is completed by the traditional Pumpkin Night Special, with spooky goings-on on Halloween, including the telling of ghostly tales in the cellar.

Tickets for all events at the Fisher are available through the box office on 01986 897130 or via the website: www.fishertheatre.org
