Tickets went on sale this week for Waveney Light Opera Group’s autumn production of the classic musical “Singin’ in the Rain” which will be performed at Beccles Public Hall in October.

The show, made famous by the 1952 film with Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor and Debbie Reynolds, contains great songs such as “Good Morning”. “Make ‘em Laugh” and of course “Singin’ in the Rain”. It is set in Hollywood in 1927 when the “talkies” were coming in. The new medium means that actors must now have a good voice, but Lina, the female lead sadly does not! Step forward a girl from the chorus with a beautiful voice who has caught the eye of Don, the leading man. Cue lots of intrigue and in-fighting but it all ends happily ever after.

Choreographer Jean Cator has been drilling the cast since June, and all that hard work seems to paying off. Everyone has thrown themselves into learning to tap their way through the show’s iconic numbers, so If you want to see the results of all this hard work, and be transported back to the golden age of Hollywood come along and see the show which will be performed in Beccles Public Hall between October 14 and 18, 2014, at 7.30pm.
