A MIME artist who has appeared in Hollywood films will be joining a host of top talent at this year's Big Bungay Cabaret.

The popular event, which is held every two years, takes place next Saturday at the Chaucer Institute in the town.

Les Bubb, a mime who has appeared in the Harry Potter films as a voice artist and as virtual characters, will be performing at the exciting event.

He has appeared on national television programs performing his act, which blends mime and contemporary clowning, and starred in and co-wrote the young people's series Hubbub for BBC One.

Heading the bill is American band The Sleaze, who hail from Pittsburgh but play all over the world. The band plays a variety of music, including a song about Bungay.

New to this year's show are two new international acts, Bongo Bolero and “speed painter” Jon Hicks.

Bongo Bolero are a duo with an original style of performance that mixes circus, comedy, theatre, and movement, while Jon Hicks creates artworks before the audience's eyes at a very fast speed.

The dress code for the cabaret is “wild and outrageous,” and the much-coveted “Golden Crow” award will be given to the group with the best theme. This will be based on the costumes the group are wearing and their decorated table, which can be dressed from 2pm on the day of the event.

Ticket enquiries and bookings can be made by emailing Pam Plews at bigbungaycabaret@googlemail.com. Tickets will also be on sale at Black Dog Antiques, Wightman's, and the Chaucer Institute in Bungay.
